From Tee to Classroom: Romit Bose Expands His Vision with Champions School Golf League to Build India's Golfing Future
For years, Romit Bose watched talented young golfers struggle against an opponent they could never beat: the golf course itself. With a deep background in junior golfer development, Bose recognised a systemic failure across the country. Children were being asked to play on courses that were simply "TOO LONG" for their developmental stage. This fundamental mismatch forced juniors to compensate with ill-fitting adult equipment, leading to ruined swing mechanics, chronic injuries, and the emotional dejection of constant high scores.
The problem was everywhere. In clubs and existing junior competitions, young players were teeing off from standard adult markers—ladies', men's, or championship tees. With no regard for the actual driving distances of different age groups, the yardages were set up for adults, not children. The result was a generation of frustrated kids facing undue pressure, which often spiralled into burnout, a loss of integrity, and physical harm.
The Birth of Champions Junior Golf in 2010

Driven by data and a commitment to best practices, Bose established the Champions Junior Golf tour. Utilising Doppler radar "TRACKMAN" technology to analyse real yardage statistics from junior golfers across the nation, he implemented a revolutionary standard: developmental age-specific course yardages paired with junior-specific equipment.
At the heart of this initiative are the CHAMPIONS TEES. These age-appropriate tee boxes ensure that every child plays a course length that allows them to hit greens in regulation. This simple yet profound change creates a fair scoring opportunity for all players within their divisions, forming the bedrock of a top-class golfer's development.
A Holistic Framework for Growth
Bose's educated structure ensures that the right physical setup cultivates the complete athlete:
· Strengthening the Mental Game: By facing achievable challenges, juniors develop a sound strategic mindset. They learn shot-making and course management skills in a context that builds confidence, ensuring these fundamentals grow with them.
· Fostering Lifelong Passion: Success breeds enjoyment. By removing the anguish of impossible pars, the tour keeps young players engaged, allowing them to fall in love with the game.
· Enabling Accurate Skill Identification: The standardised format provides a pure measure of a junior's potential. Coaches can now access meaningful statistics to identify raw talent and fine-tune player development without the distortion of unsuitable course lengths.
The Champions junior golf tour alumni consist of multiple winners on the National & International Professional and Amateur Golf tours including NCAA Division 1 tournament & Division 3 US Collegiate Golf Championship winners and World, European, Asian and India Junior Championship winners.
A New Frontier: The Champions School Golf League

Having established a strong foundation with ROMITBOSEGOLF's in-school facilities and skills training, Bose recognised the next logical step: creating a formal competition infrastructure. This vision gave birth to the Champions School Golf League, now India's largest school golf league.
This ambitious initiative is designed to bridge the gap between introductory programs and competitive play. By bringing structured competition directly into the school ecosystem, the league aims to encourage participation at the grassroots level and foster a vibrant inter-school golf environment. With multiple events already underway, the Champions School Golf League promises to be the definitive platform to introduce and promote golf among children of all ages on a massive scale across India.
