From Player to Pioneer

Romit’s journey in golf began before the age of ten. He built a career as a competitive junior golfer, amateur, and playing professional on the PGA of India Tour — until an untimely injury in the early stages of his professional career redirected his path. In 1999, he turned to teaching, coaching, and building the game he loved, channeling everything he couldn’t achieve as a player into the students who would come after him.

He is a two-time recognized authority in Indian golf: named “Top Golf Professional” at the India Golf Awards 2017 and featured by Forbes Magazine as a “Top Teacher” — widely regarded as India’s foremost golf educator.

 

Building the Systems Indian Golf Needed

In 1999, Romit started and popularised India’s first-ever Junior Training Program (JTP) at the Delhi Golf Club, running it until 2010 and exposing thousands of junior golfers to structured coaching — many of whom went on to sterling golf careers and college pathways with his support.

 

Recognizing structural gaps in how junior golf was organized, Romit:

    •    Structured and launched the first event tour for junior golf in India on behalf of the IGU

    •    Served as founding staff of the National Golf Academy, helping build India’s coach certification system

    •    Became Program Director of the DDA Junior Coaching & Development Program at The Qutab Golf Club (2009)

    •    Founded his own Champions Junior Golf Tour, introducing tournament structures with yardage-specific tee distances matched to age-group ability — replacing the traditional, arbitrary tee-position model

    •    Took over the IGU’s National Junior Feeder Tour and sub-junior tours, introducing age-specific yardages across the national system

 

The results spoke for themselves: a generation of juniors — including Subham Jaglan, Raghav Chugh, Krishnaav Chopra, Sifat Sagoo, Heena Kang, Ceerat Kang, and Jia Kataria — found greater participation, better scoring, and stronger development, groomed on courses set up for their actual physical ability rather than arbitrary standards.

 

Technology & Innovation

Romit introduced TrackMan to India in 2014 as Country Head, popularizing launch-monitor technology among the country’s top players, academies, teaching professionals, and club-fitters. In 2015, he opened India’s first golf science and performance academy at the Jack Nicklaus–designed championship course of Classic Golf & Country Club — a state-of-the-art facility that pioneered multi-camera hitting bays, pressure mat analysis, AimPoint green reading, and dedicated club-fitting carts with leading manufacturers including TaylorMade, Titleist, and Honma.

 

A Global Stage

    •    2016 — Attended the Masters Tournament as a clubhouse guest of the tournament committee, representing the PGA of India, and was honored to take part in the prize presentation party at the Green Jacket ceremony on Augusta National’s putting green

    •    2018–2019 — Tournament Director for U.S. Kids Golf, running multiple tournaments across India

    •    2020 — Delivered the first Indian Championship for U.S. Kids Golf as Tournament Director

    •    2019 — Course Director at the World Junior Golf Championship, Pinehurst

 

RBG Academy Today

Post-pandemic, Romit took over the Siri Fort driving range facility New Delhi, transforming it into the ROMITBOSEGOLF Academy. A well-planned social media outreach effort drove a massive influx of youth participation, bringing thousands of new juniors into the game.

His flagship player development program, running continuously since 2010 at The Qutab Golf Club, remains his primary focus — grooming juniors through correct technical systems, guiding them through college recruitment pathways, and supporting them into professional careers.

 

Romit also delivers teaching programs for Indian and multinational corporate houses, national golf bodies, and specialty golf clinics, both nationally and internationally.

 

A Coaching Legacy

Romit is a teaching professional to have produced students who have won multiple Men’s, Ladies, Girls, and Boys National Junior and National Amateur Championship titles, alongside multiple international championships and a World Teen & European Junior Championship title.
